Carson and Trump to Get Secret Service Code Names
Trump and Ben Carson first requested protection from the Secret Service in October.
Republican presidential contender Ben Carson will begin receiving Secret Service protection this week. The officers stressed in that the code names will not be last until eight a.m. on Wed.as well, so there’s all the time the potential of a last-minute alter overnight. The Secret Service uses a code name for each protected person, a handle that often connotes their profession, personality or reputation. Fox News reported Tuesday afternoon that Trump, the savvy NY billionaire, will go by “Mogul”, while Carson, the retired neurosurgeon and committed Seventh Day Adventist, will go by “Eli”. The names are generated not by the Secret Service but the White House Communications Agency, a military affairs unit inside the White House. Carson is known as a very spiritual man and frequently quotes from the Bible, and Eli is typically attached to the phrase “God is the most high”.
A Trump spokesman did not immediately respond to questions about the timing for his campaign. President Obama’s codename is Renegade, while George W. Bush’s was Trailblazer.
The Secret Service code names for former President Bill Clinton and current Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton reveals another detail about the process.
Neither candidate will be getting the name they suggested during the second Republican primary debate.
