Carson’s comeback to Trump’s insults: “Pray for him”
“If you’re pathological there’s no cure for that folks… if you’re a child molester, a sick puppy, you’re a child molester, there’s no cure for that”, he said.
“To see him just imploding before our very eyes – it’s just sad to watch”, Mr Williams said.
Other Republican candidates came to Carson’s defense early Friday and slammed Trump for his controversial plans on foreign policy and immigration.
Trump, frustrated that Carson has stolen the lead from him in polls of Iowa Republicans, launched a diatribe against the retired neurosurgeon at a rally in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Thursday night. “I have several sources that I’ve got material from, I’m surprised my sources are better than theirs”, Carson said outside of a town hall in SC on Friday. And then even was patronizing toward voters as he shouted, “How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?”, he said. The video then shows footage of a news interview with an old Carson acquaintance who suggests the story may be untrue. “If you’re a child molester, there’s no cure”. Strong stance, there! Not a place I would go, personally, because I don’t really believe in invoking child molesting when talking about anyone who isn’t an actually child molester. “‘You compared this and therefore they’re the same, ‘ I don’t buy all that”. Thus, it was only a matter of time until Trump stopped playing nice and bitterly attacked Carson.
Trump and Carson are neck-and-neck in recent polls, with the two virtually tied in the latest RealClearPolitics average nationally and in Iowa. It hit the belt, and the knife broke.
In addition to Carson, Trump hit on Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina, Lindsey Graham, George Pataki and John Kasich.
“You would know something about pathological”, Fiorina wrote in a Facebook post.
In particular, he questioned whether Carson’s account of attempting to stab someone only to have the knife by a belt buckle.
“It’s not the kind of dialogue that I would ever engage in and I’m hopeful that his advisers will help him to understand the word pathological and know that that does not connote incurable”, Carson said. Honestly, outside of the woman card, she’s got nothing going, believe me. “Now he said he was pathological, ok”, the billionaire businessman said to the crowd.
And the “self-funded campaign” jab was an apparent reference to criticism Trump’s campaign has received for downplaying its millions of dollars in donations.
“Dr. Carson found redemption in the Lord”.
