Carters of Moseley gets Michelin star in 2016 guide
The restaurant opened in the summer of 2012 and was a joint venture between Eamonn O’Reilly of One Pico and Viljanen.nearly as soon as the doors opened it was being touted as a serious contender for a star.
Led by head chef and proprietor Brad Carter, Carters of Moseley was one of 15 venues to be awarded the accolade across Great Britain and Ireland.
Seven Irish restaurants have retained their Michelin Star status from previous years while two establishments in Galway and Dublin have been awarded their first Michelin Star.
The pair beat competition from right across the United Kingdom last year to be named the Good Food Guide’s Readers’ Restaurant of the Year.
It comes after Carters was voted restaurant of the year by its diners in 2014.
“We are only open 10 months and I wasn’t expecting to win a star yet”, he said.
She said: “It is absolutely unbelievable”.
Michelin United Kingdom tweeted the results this afternoon after the Guide was apparently leaked by a bookshop ahead of its official release tomorrow (17 September). We were in the middle of lunch service when we found out and we are all overwhelmed. “To get a star is completely incredible but now we go back to keeping on working hard”.
Ms Jackson said there were no plans for world domination after the star.
He said the restaurant did not have many bookings for tonight which might give staff a chance to celebrate, before adding, “We have seen bookings pick up for the weekend”. “It is days like this that all that commitment pays off”.
Other restaurants across the region that already boast stars, including four in Birmingham, one in Warwickshire and the Midlands’ only two-star venue in Nottinghamshire, have all retained their title.
The star awarded to Deane’s EIPIC means that restauranteur Micheal Deane returns to the Michelin Guide, having previously held a star from 1997 until 2010.
Award-winning chef Simon Rogan took over The French in 2013 with the aim to help the venue reclaim its star.
