Casey Anthony prosecutor admits Ashley Madison, won’t resign

One political leader already claimed he used the site for “opposition research,” and now Florida State Attorney Jeff Ashton publicly apologized after his name was discovered on Ashley Madison.

East Orlando Post revealed that Jeffrey Ashton’s paid membership on the “cheating” website Ashley Madison in a document dump with the last four digit of his credit card and home address.

The announcement for the press conference came after Channel 9’s request for an interview regarding the initial published reports on the website East Orlando Post. He used his personal laptop on an office wireless network which is available to everybody and is at the courthouse complex.

“I did something incredibly stupid and I should have been called out about it. They did the right thing”, Ashton said, before later explaining more.

Ashton has been a state attorney since 2012 after defeating his former boss and fellow Democrat Lawson Lamar in an open primary.

Ashton said despite having an account on the site, he never actually met anyone using it.

He continued, “I regret that I have given ammunition to those who seek to discredit the work our office does”. In 2011, Ashton worked as prosecutor in the highly-publicized Casey Anthony murder trial.

Law enforcement professionals with experience in investigating vice-‐related crimes report that the Ashley Madison website was frequented by persons engaged in, and seeking, high‐end prostitution services.

“I am proud of the work and what we have accomplished so far”.

He asked for forgiveness for his bad judgment. He did choke up several times during the press conference, particularly as he mentioned his family and the embarassment it has caused them, Orlando Sentinel reported. He says he never had an affair.
