Cashman: Trump says Cruz tricks mean he was actual Iowa victor
The day after accusing Ted Cruz of winning the Iowa caucuses unfairly and asking for a rematch in the state, Donald Trump says he’s now over it.
I don’t mean to suggest Rubio is less popular than the polls here say.
Cruz won 27.7 percent of the vote in the Republican caucus in Iowa, staking his claim to be the new standard bearer of the right.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Wednesday said Texas Senator Ted Cruz “stole” first place in the Iowa caucuses and called for “a new election” or nullification of Cruz’s win.
Trump complained about how the media has characterized the results of the Iowa caucuses, noting that Marco Rubio “came in third, and they’re saying he had this incredible evening”.
“If I had to do it again”, he said, “I would do the exact same thing and the reason is, do you know why?”
The network said it had only reported that Carson would go to Florida instead of New Hampshire or SC immediately after the caucuses to take a “deep breath” and get clean clothes.
LOS ANGELS, CA (Catholic Online) – Speaking in Milford, New Hampshire, Trump vowed a strong defense if elected president.
“I don’t think it ever helps after you lose an election to ask for a do over”, Christie said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends”.
Trump, who finished second behind Cruz, lit up Twitter on Wednesday with a series of posts saying the outcome was tainted because the Cruz campaign had deliberately spread misinformation about Trump’s stand on Obamacare and an erroneous report that Ben Carson was dropping out of the race. “And I want to congratulate Ted, and I want to congratulate all of the incredible candidates, including Mike Huckabee, who has become a really good friend of mine”.
The poll found the most support for Rubio in a theoretical three-man race for the nomination, with 34% picking the Florida senator compared with 33% for Trump and 25% for Cruz.
The accusations were the latest aggressive tactic from Trump, who has courted controversy with attacks on other candidates and by urging a temporary ban on Muslims entering the United States and branding Mexican immigrants as criminals. Democrats were girding for a protracted slugfest between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton, locked in a virtual tie.
People like Donald Trump will take advantage of a situation and make it their own.
