Casino bus smashes into New York City building
A casino bus that crashed into the corner of a Queens, NY, apartment building Monday has injured numerous people and caused severe damage to the structure.
The Resorts World Casino bus smashed into the corner of the property at Woodhaven Boulevard in Rego Park, Queens about 2pm Monday (4am Tuesday AEST), NBC New York reported. The vehicle came to a stop on the sidewalk behind the building.
The driver of the bus was trapped after the crash but has since reportedly been extricated. Seven of the injuries were considered serious, but everyone was expected to survive, officials said.
Receptionist Fran Ferraro says her office shook when the bus struck.
Aerial footage of the crash showed a red passenger bus with the Resorts World logo emblazoned on it embedded into a large brick building. The building that the bus hit is both commercial and residential.
It’s operated by the Brooklyn-based Trans Express, Inc., according to the website.
A spokesperson for the casino said their “thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by today’s bus accident”, and said they’re cooperating with an investigation.
