Cast of Broadway’s ‘Hamilton’ to perform at Grammy show
HAMILTON tickets may be nearly impossible to get, but for the past six months, we Broadway fans have all been treated to a truly special set of performances hosted by the Hamilton cast.
The touring version of the show, featuring and all-new cast, will anchor the 2016-2017 SHN Broadway series, which also features “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time”. And as a result, tickets are pretty hard to come by. Writer and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will perform with his cast mates at the Richard Rogers Theater in NY, and it will be broadcast live via satellite.
Creator/star Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted out the good news on Wednesday morning (Feb. 3).
Check out the cast’s sweet announcement video (below) and watch them perform at the Grammys on February 15 at 8 p.m. EST on CBS!
Previously announced performers include Checotah native Carrie Underwood, Adele, James Bay, Andra Day, Ellie Goulding, Sam Hunt, Tori Kelly, Kendrick Lamar, Little Big Town, and The Weeknd.
“But “Hamilton” had a buzz that was unique and, musically, the idea of a hip-hop musical about early American history was something we just had to explore”, he added.
Hamilton is nominated for a Best Musical Theater Album Grammy, and will compete against An American In Paris, Fun Home, Something Rotten! and The King And I. Miranda, Lacamoire and Sherman are previous winners in this category for “In The Heights” (2008).
