Cast of ‘Roseanne’ Might Star in a New Series Without Roseanne Barr
“Roseanne” was rebooted in March after a 21-year hiatus with Barr’s character recast as a Trump supporter in a rare depiction of working class life on the United States small screen.
Of course, Sanofi’s broader point is that the possibility of those side effects doesn’t excuse Barr’s tweet, which compared former Obama administration official Valerie Jarrett to the Islamic group Muslim Brotherhood and Planet of the Apes.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have chose to cancer her show”, Dungey said in her statement, leaving nothing to the imagination. Trump tweeted that maybe he “just didn’t get the call”.
“Don’t feel sorry for me, guys!”, Barr said in a tweet late on Tuesday. “Please take a breath and remember that mental health issues are real”.
President Donald Trump has tweeted his thoughts after the Roseanne reboot was cancelled by ABC.
Roseanne Barr shows no signs she will remain quiet about her firing from her popular ABC series and has highlighted supporters’ tweets criticizing the network.
Barr deleted the controversial tweet shortly after posting it and released an apology but it has not stopped the waves of criticism from rolling in. Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Emma Kenney and Lecy Goranson also spoke out on the scandal, denouncing Barr’s words.
ABC announced Tuesday that the show was canceled.
The CNN report says Barr cited Ambien again in a later tweet, but she subsequently deleted the tweets with references to the insomnia medication.
“The person who is walking down the street minding their own business and they see somebody cling to their purse or want to cross the street; or every black parent I know who has a boy who has to sit down and have a conversation, ‘the talk, ‘ as we call it”, she said.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told a briefing that Trump’s comments were not a defense of Barr’s tweet.
President Donald Trump’s first public reaction to the cancellation of “Roseanne” is a shot at Disney CEO Bob Iger.
ABC and Disney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. During her appearance, Jarrett addressed the controversy over Barr’s tweet, calling it a “teaching moment”. “I hope the good work done is not totally eclipsed by those abhorrent and offensive comments, and that Roseanne seeks the help she so clearly needs”.
The show scored huge ratings and had been renewed for an 11th season following largely positive reviews – including from the president.
“It’s like taking off “All in the Family” or “I Love Lucy” or Andy Griffith at their zenith”, he said.
