Cat rescued from engine of pickup truck
It happened Thursday morning in Hackettstown, N.J.
When a pickup truck arrived at the Mars Chocolate plant in Hackettstown, New Jersey, after a 28-mile trip from Pennsylvania, workers thought that the meows emanating from the engine compartment were worth investigating.
Officers found the orange-and-white cat under the hood, stuck in the fan blades. The cat is believed to have traveled 28 miles safely from East Stroudsburg, Pa., to the plant in Hackettstown.
Police got a call at 7:26 a.m. Thursday from an employee of Mars Chocolate North America – the maker of M&Ms – who reported that a cat was stuck inside the engine compartment of the pickup.
The car’s owner didn’t know of any neighbors with a cat matching his riding companion’s description, Tynan said.
While the cat was unharmed, it only has eight more lives.
A quick foot chase by officers at the scene led to the cat’s capture, which was then turned over to the Animal Control Officer.
With the help of employees from the Hackettstown Department of Public Works and Mars, the cat was freed.
The cat did not have a micro chip. After that, the kitten would be taken to the Common Sense for Animals shelter in Franklin.
Will its eventual new owner name it Mars, Lucky or Traveler?
