Cat Rescued From Engine of Pickup Truck After 28-Mile Ride
It happened Thursday morning in Hackettstown, N.J.
When a pickup truck arrived at the Mars Chocolate plant in Hackettstown, New Jersey, after a 28-mile trip from Pennsylvania, workers thought that the meows emanating from the engine compartment were worth investigating.
Officers found the orange-and-white cat under the hood, stuck in the fan blades. It was then realized the cat hopped inside the vehicle back in East Stroudsburg and made it to Hackettstown – a 30-minute ride spanning 28 miles, Tynan said.
When the motorist took a peek under the hood, he found a cat was stuck inside an engine compartment, Tynan said.
The driver did not recognize the cat, but said many strays are in the neighborhood in East Stroudsburg. He ran a short distance before he was caught by police.
Anyone with knowledge of the cat’s home or owners can call the Hackettstown Police Department at 908-852-3302 or the Animal Control Officer at 908-625-0106.
The cat did not have a micro chip.
Town Animal Control Officer Kim Bennett said the cat still is considered a kitten, weighs about three pounds and is about four months old.
Will its eventual new owner name it Mars, Lucky or Traveler?
