Cat viciously attacks 7 pit bulls and dog walker
Stone is commenting after a cat attacked a pit bull near Mount Tolmie on Monday.
She said the cat swiped at them all and even latched onto one of the dog’s faces.
Kyla suffered bites and scratches to her arm as she got between the cat and dog.
Betty Jean Thompson, 78, and her husband Del said they are mystified by the public interest in an incident that happened Monday evening on the front lawn of their Saanich home.
Beside her lay Baby, the stray, cream-coloured cat that adopted the Thompsons nearly 16 years ago. The owner of the dog called Saanich to report the incident and was surprised to learn they didn’t deal with cat issues.
The dogs were on a walk with four people, including Javiera Rodriguez ― Bandida’s owner ― and Kyla Grover, who are two founders of “Pit Bulls of Victoria BC”, a community group for pit bull lovers.
“At first I was just shocked that this cat would go after seven dogs”, she said.
The seven pit bulls were out for their regular walk, simply minding their own business, in the words of their walker.
“She’s an older cat”.
Rodriguez took her pit bull Bandida to the veterinarian after a cat attack her dog and six others.
The Montreal SPCA said shelters and pounds will continue to receive abandoned and stray pit bulls and, because they can not be adopted any longer, “healthy dogs and puppies would necessarily be sentenced to death”.
“The vet hospital thought it was a raccoon that attacked her”.
“Regardless of what kind of pet you have, owners should be held responsible for it”, she said.
The cat’s owner Del Thompson insists his elderly cat, who he adopted 16 years ago, would have normally been intimidated by such a large group of dogs.
Except for this unusual story, which will have pit bulls staying away from her kitty corner.
