Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara are Star-Crossed Lovers in Gorgeous
It’s right up the alley of director Todd Haynes (Far From Heaven), but it has the added interest of being an adaptation of a 1952 novella entitled “The Price of Salt” by Patricia Highsmith (under the pseudonym Claire Morgan).
But if you can’t wait that long to see what’s in store, check out the trailer below.
It has been working its way through the fest circuit since May, landing a gala screening at the London Film Festival and then its USA premiere over the weekend at Telluride.
Another trailer brings us closer into the heartbreaking world of Carol.
Cate Blanchett has done some of her best work in the last few years, with her incredible performance in Blue Jasmine winning her an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2013.
The 1950s-set love story, based on Patricia Highsmith’s The Price Of Salt, stars Mara as Therese Belivet, a clerk in a Manhattan department store who falls for Cate Blanchett’s eponymous character, an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage.
“Carol” will open in select cities beginning November 20. As an immediate connection sparks between them, the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens.
The trailer from the Weinstein Company offers a glimpse at a tasteful love scene between the women and reveals plot details about the custody battle that ensues between Carol (Blanchett) and her husband (played by Kyle Chandler) following her affair.
