The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in OR has released dash cam footage of a deputy saving a child running down a highway as a warning about distracted driving.
According to Landers, the family had been cleaning up after a family event at a community center when the toddler acted “in a flash of a second”.
The child was returned unharmed. The video is meant to focus on traffic safety and the dangers of distracted driving. They urge drivers to refrain from texting and using cellphones while driving.
A quick-thinking deputy prevented a tragedy in OR when he came upon a toddler wandering down a highway all by himself.
In a press release, Lieutenant Landers said the video was released “not to ridicule or question those involved”, but to highlight the need to be alert at all times while on the road.
No criminal charges are being brought against the parents, but the deputy says, had he not been paying attention, the situation could of had a different outcome.
