Cavaliers at Hornets Notes and Observations
LeBron James had 25 points and 13 rebounds, extending his personal run of dominance against the Charlotte Hornets by leading the Cavaliers to a 95-90 victory Friday night.
James’ teams have won 23 straight games against Charlotte. I thought we just ran out of gas. The Cavaliers improved to 12-4.
Looking to Wednesday’s away game, though, Cleveland will still be in ideal position to defeat Toronto.
“I thought fatigue played a big part in it. I thought we got exhausted, for obvious reasons”.
Cleveland called a timeout and would put the ball in James’ hands.
NOTES: F LeBron James’ last loss to Charlotte came on February 19, 2010, during his first stint with the Cavaliers and Charlotte was still the Bobcats. They’re at their best with lineups that don’t include a traditional big man, instead have Stephen Curry with four other players ranging between 6’5 and 6’9 who can do pretty much everything on both sides of the court.
Since James was in high school, he’s been endlessly compared with players ahead of him.
With Mo Williams missing his third straight game due to lower right leg soreness and ankle inflammation and Kyrie Irving having been sidelined all season while recovering from surgery to fix a fractured kneecap, Matthew Dellavedova started at point guard against the Magic despite soreness in his left leg. In three quarters of action, Love went 7-for-12 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from long-distance. “It was just working well for us”.
Rudy Gay scored a game-high 36 points to help the Sacramento Kings hold on late to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 129-118, the Memphis Grizzlies were 102-93 winners over the Houston Rockets, the New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Phoenix Suns 120-114 and the Orlando Magic trumped the New York Knicks 100-91.
November 17 v Toronto: Connected on five three-pointers en route to 37 points and added nine assists in a 115-110 win over the Raptors.
Guard Nicolas Batum scored 17 but missed two 3-point attempts in the final minute, one that could have given the Hornets the lead. James then added a free throw with 9.2 seconds. Meanwhile, Love tallied 18 points, 16 rebounds, and one assist.
But James had the same chance to say something nice about another hall-of-famer he’s about to pass – Reggie Miller, who’s just five points ahead of him for 18 place in league history in scoring – and he balked. Lopez led the Nets with 22 points and nine rebounds.
Cavaliers: Tristan Thompson had 14 rebounds….
Moreover, in those 20 games, he averaged 29.8 points and shot 58.8 percent that sums up his total domination of the Hornets.
Brandon Rush (16 points), Klay Thompson (15) and Marreese Speights (13) were also strong contributors.
