Cavaliers’ James Becomes Youngest to Reach 25000 Points
James (30) became the youngest player in history to reach 25,000 career points and finished one rebound shy of a triple-double as the 2015-16 edition of Cleveland moved to 3-1 with a 107-100 win at Philadelphia on Monday.
Along with jogging our memory that when LeBron James is being the best player in the National Basketball Association, and Kevin Love is focused and involved in the offense, the Cavs are a very scary team.
“For me, winning basketball games and then reaching milestones individually will be a pretty cool thing but obviously it will be a team aspect of it that comes first”, James said via the Akron Beacon Journal. “I’ve been able to play with two great organizations”. That guy is in my ear constantly, telling me how I can get better and watching film with me. James, a two-time National Basketball Association champion with the Miami Heat, and the rest of the Eastern Conference champions had enough to push back the undermanned Sixers.
LeBron reached the milestone in dramatic fashion, James would convert on an alley oop from Matthew Dellavedovawith 8:07 remaining in the fourth quarter. He became the sixth active player with 25,000 points and the 20th overall, joining Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, San Antonio’s Tim Duncan, Minnesota’s Kevin Garnett, Los Angeles’ Kobe Bryant and Paul Pierce of the Clippers.
The Philadelphia fans accorded James with a standing ovation during a timeout with 7:45 left, when an announcement was made about his achievement.
With the Cavs in town for a matchup with Brett Brown and the Sixers Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center, James was asked what he thinks of Hinkie’s rebuild in Philadelphia. With 12 more made field goals, he will have hit 9,000 for his career.
James scored three points and assisted on two more buckets in a 10-2 Cavs run that cut the Sixers’ lead to 54-49.
Dellavedova relished the extra opportunities provided while star point guard Kyrie Irving, who is still rehabbing as a result of a knee fracture sustained in Game 1 of last year’s finals series.
Kobe Bryant was the prior fastest player to the plateau, reaching it in 2010 at the age of 31. “It’s definitely a milestone any time you’re able to have an accomplishment like that”.
Cavaliers: Host the NY Knicks on Wednesday.
“I’ve been able to stay healthy”, he said.
“We’re going to win how we’ve been playing and defending at a high level and I think Kyrie makes us that much more risky with his ability to score and his ability to play make”, James said.
