Cavaliers staggered by blowout loss to champion Warriors
The Cavaliers trailed by 30 points in the second quarter and the lead for the Warriors jumped to 43 on a Steph Curry 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Cleveland offered zero resistance to the league’s top team.
“Obviously, I wasn’t in the league and didn’t get a chance to see [Michael] Jordan’s, but I was watching as a fan and it looked like it would be something cool to be a part of”.
The Cleveland Cavaliers need to push forward and hit their next game hard. But this was no ordinary loss.
Devin Booker’s 24 points led the Suns, who lost their sixth straight and 15th in 16 games.
Following the game, James didn’t offer excuses. But, eventually with time they will get there and hopefully accomplish what LeBron came back to Cleveland to do, and that’s bring home a championship.
“Their resume speaks for itself”, James said. You just take it as a learning experience. “We’re not at that point yet”.
As soon as Cleveland was humiliated by Golden State on Monday, the Nets knew LeBron James and the Cavaliers would show up in Brooklyn “breathing fire”, looking to dominate.
There’s no doubt that LeBron James and Kevin Love haven’t had the most harmonious relationship since becoming teammates last summer. He arrived less than 50 minutes before the opening tip and then got ejected from another important game for bad behavior.
However, the Cavs do not have much resources to pull off a splash in the trading season, with the team well over the luxury tax line due to their $109 million payroll.
Kyrie Irving had 21 points for Cleveland, which has won 13 of 14 against Los Angeles.
The biggest number for James?
Love’s shot isn’t falling and his role appears to be shrinking. Boban Marjanovic added 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Jonathon Simmons had 13 points.
In their first meeting of the season, the Warriors won 106-94 at the ORACLE Arena thanks to a good game from Stephen Curry. But it will take some time to get everything corrected – should they meet the Warriors again in June. By record they may be the best team in the East, but the Cavs are not the best team in the East to face the Warriors. “Whether that’s plays that come in the fourth quarter or executing based on the great players that we have, sometimes we get away with that”.
Kevin Love is a player to keep your eye on for the Cavaliers in this one as his production has slipped since Kyrie Irving has been back in the lineup. He clearly isn’t putting the Cavs in that same category.
“We’re going to have a lot of bumps, and that’s OK”, he said.
It wasn’t as if Nets coach Tony Brown saw the Cavliers’ Monday score and said, “Uh-oh, we’re in for it”.
