Cavs beat Celtics to make NBA Finals
BOSTON- For LeBron James, it’s his eighth NBA Finals.
“The Celtics suck.” “I could have made those shots”. The first threatened to come apart with infighting before GM Koby Altman blew them up at the trade deadline, bringing in four new players mid-season.
But there’s a wide gap between competing for a title and actually winning one, which is why practically every team that has ever hoisted the Larry O’Brien trophy did so with multiple All-Stars or future Hall-of-Famers.
Instead, the Celtics gave us a spectacular ride to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers took down the Boston Celtics in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday night.
There have been many quality teams with championship aspirations who have had their spirits crushed by LeBron James. It was appropriate that Paul Pierce took in the game from the front row, in a seat between Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck and Patriots owner Robert Kraft. When Rozier went up for the lay-in, James blocked it off the backboard and right to Green.
Once again he demonstrated that he is The Best Ever.
This isn’t a James vs. Michael Jordan story.
James dropped 17 points and went 6-of-12 from the field in the first half, scoring almost half of Clevelands first half points. He has stymied the Celtics five times.
The moment rarely looked too big for the 20-year-old Tatum throughout his rookie year, and he elevated his game in the playoffs, averaging 18.2 points per contest during the postseason.
Since taking charge of the Celtics in 2013, head coach Brad Stevens has been eliminated by LeBron and the Cavs three times and he paid tribute to the 15-year veteran after the game.
Heading into Game 7, it looked like Boston would be able to pull out a victory.
Celebrities follow and support National Basketball Association players all the time but Hollywood’s most famous personalities generally gravitate toward the league’s best players. The Celtics have more playmakers and two-way players than the Cavaliers.
After a grueling seven-game first-round series against the Indiana Pacers, then convincing four-game sweep of the Toronto Raptors, it seemed like James might not be enough to get the Cavs over the hump. In the fourth quarter, the outcome still in doubt, they resorted to quick threes and missed. In the first half, Green scored nine points on 4-7 shooting. Boston went cold in that same six-minute stretch, going just 2-for-13 from the field.
Tatum finished with 351 total points in 19 playoff appearances. Those are things, like I said, when you’re done playing the game, you can only dream and wish that you could be a part of that once again. This could help them win 40-something games and make the playoffs, but they would ultimately lose to whatever team LeBron is playing for.
