Cavs Coach David Blatt Was ‘Scared’ Of LeBron James
LeBron James says that he was “just as surprised and caught off guard” as his team mates when Cleveland head coach David Blatt was sacked on Friday, four days after the Cavaliers had suffered their worst loss of the season.
Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt was hired before LeBron returned to the city. However, Griffin insisted the team had issues despite being relatively successful on the court, and James concurred. Although it’s been reported James already had a preference for new coach Tyronn Lue, James, of course, is sidestepping any involvement with the firing of Blatt.
Lue was promoted Friday, when the Cavaliers fired David Blatt despite him taking the team to the NBA Finals last season and leading the Eastern Conference this season. Sports that James and his head coach struggled in their first year in building their relationship. Lue said he didn’t want to do anything different than how Blatt managed the team, just better.
“Look, that’s the stuff we don’t have any idea about”, Van Gundy said. “We’ve got to change”.
A humbling 132-98 loss to Golden State on Monday did nothing to make the Cavaliers feel as if they could stop the Warriors this time around either. I think having been a player and a coach now, when you’re frantic and up yelling and screaming, it makes your team nervous. Every decision made is an answer to the following question: “does it put us in the best position to deliver Championships to Northeast, Ohio”.
The Cleveland Cavaliers own the best record in the Eastern Conference and are one season removed from appearing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals, but no job is ever safe in the coaching profession. I would think he’s not going to be unemployed long. I’m embarrassed for our league that something like this could happen.
“I talked to Bron”.
To paraphrase countless football coaches talking about quarterbacks, maybe the face of the franchise gets too much credit when things are going well and gets too much of the blame when things aren’t going well.
Ultimately, we don’t know if his replacement, Tyronn Lue, knows what he’s doing on the sidelines. We would like to thank David Blatt for his work over these past two seasons where the Cavaliers transformed into a playoff team after a rebuilding phase. But when it got to the game, he let you figure it out yourself.
The Cavs needed a shake-up and one was provided by Griffin, who sensed the talented team was not as connected as it needed to be in order to win a championship in Cleveland, the title James covets most.
