Cavs coach Lue says Blatt should coach All-Stars
So, today, we are elevating Tyronn Lue, from his role as Associate Head Coach to Head Coach.
In a release Friday, GM David Griffin said Lue is in a good place as he takes over the head coaching position. Blatt alienated the majority of the Cavaliers’ locker room attempting to win over LeBron, and he wasn’t even able to do that. I’m not taking a poll.
Amundson has been in plenty of locker rooms – the Knicks are his 10th team.
“The only thing I can worry about is how I can continue to get these guys prepared and get them playing better basketball because we know we can much be better”. That is now their main advantage over the Cavs, and we’ll see how both teams respond to this news later tonight. “So we had a fairly businesslike group”.
Many of the Cleveland Cavaliers players, including LeBron James, reportedly didn’t like or respect him. He seems to have formed some sort of relationship with James-but that didn’t translate into games when The King would offen resort to hero ball. James calculating image wasnt helped when the Cavaliers stunningly fired Blatt on Friday, Jan. 22, despite Blatt leading the team to the NBA Finals last season and an Eastern Conference-best 30-11 record this season. “We were regressing over a period of time”.
The Chicago Bulls have been pretty much an average team this season, but something just happened that has improved their title chances.
I’ve said it before. Comments that looked something like, “how could the Cavaliers fire their coach that led their team to the best record in the East when the Sixers gave their coach a contact extension for winning just six games?” I understand that. But we were 30-11 with a schedule that was reasonably easy. A lot of these guys, I’ve played against, I’ve played with.
“But with that said, when you have the clarity of goal that our ownership has instilled in this entire organization, decisions often make themselves”.
“That one – to me – elevated all of the coach firings totally into the theatre of the absurd”.
A humbling 132-98 loss to Golden State on Monday did nothing to make the Cavaliers feel as if they could stop the Warriors this time around either. “I didn’t need to ask questions”. It’s a superstar driven league, and LeBron quickly nixed whatever semblance of a Princeton offense Blatt wanted to run in year one.
“Blatt knew I had his back 100 percent”, Lue said. The Cavs probably didn’t anticipate that the best player of the decade would elect to return to Cleveland when they hired him. I told him, ‘I’ve got to hold you accountable. Griffin also met with owner Dan Gilbert, who supported the move.
Instead, he felt that while the Cavaliers had coped well with adversity – including injuries sidelining Kyrie Irving and Iman Shumpert for the first two months of the season – they were not dealing as well with “prosperity” now that they are largely healthy and on top of the East.
