Bogut is officially a Cavalier, with the reigning National Basketball Association champions confirming the Boomers centre’s signature on Thursday (Friday AEDT) after a week-long trade process.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are 8-1 straight up in their last nine games against the Boston Celtics. A member of the 2015 Golden State Warriors championship team, the former Dallas Maverick wil be in uniform for Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Cavs also announced that Bogut will wearing #6 for the wine and gold.
The Heat, who employ Hassan Whiteside, are the ideal team for Bogut to make his debut against as they’re not the toughest opponent but have a matchup for him to flex his muscles against.
Jokes aside, Bogut is planning to give Cavs big man Tristan Thompson a break. The 7-footer certainly knows what he’s getting into after going head-to-head with LeBron James and Co.in the Finals the last two seasons while playing for the Warriors.
Bogut has averaged 10 points and 8.9 rebounds in his career, which began when Milwaukee selected the Australian No. 1 overall 12 years ago. Williams is now on his second 10-day contract with Cleveland and will sign with the team on Saturday when the deal expires.
After the reports about Bogut surfaced, observers rightfully pointed out that the organisation has seven players under contract that were drafted in the top five of the NBA Draft.
We’ll get our first look at Williams in a Cavaliers uniform on Wednesday night when Cleveland takes on the Boston Celtics at TD Garden.
