Cavs, Warriors clash in one game winner-take-all for title
The host Cavaliers ripped the defending champion Warriors 115-101 Thursday to level the best-of-seven series at 3-3 and force a seventh-game spectacle back in California to determine a historic trophy victor.
Winning an NBA Finals Game 7 on the road has only been achieved three times in the past, and not since 1978. He is averaging more points, more assists, more steals, more blocks and more minutes than anyone on either team, and he’s tied for first with Tristan Thompson in rebounds.
Stephen Curry’s wife spoke out loudly on social media with a tweet suggesting Thursday night’s Game 6 was rigged. “But at the end of the day my whole mindset is how I can put myself in position to help these guys be successful and I could be successful as well”. I would challenge any team.
And now it’s on Curry to answer.
“Three of the six fouls were incredibly inappropriate calls for anybody, much less the MVP of the league”, Kerr said in his postgame news conference, surely knowing that the league would be sending a bill for those remarks.
Curry, whose finals scoring is down significantly from the regular season (23.5 points per game vs. 30.1 points), and who risked ejection on Thursday after throwing his mouthpiece into the crowd in frustration, must keep his cool if he’s to solidify his legacy as a victor.
Sunday night’s total is set at 206.5 points. “There’s tears, there’s celebration, you want to be the one celebrating, but you never know, and that’s why we’re competing”. I’m out there trying to do the same for my team. “We don’t go 1-on-1 at each other a lot, but it’s a pretty competitive feeling out there with the situation of playing in The Finals and playing for something special”.
The last game of the National Basketball Association season is Sunday featuring the Golden State Warriors vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers won 115-101.
Every game has been decided by double digits in this series that is heading back to Oakland, California, for the ultimate showdown.
After shooting 42 percent the first two games, James has shot 55 percent the past four as he has exploited the Warriors in transition and made the mid-range jumpers Golden State has ceded him.
“Things haven’t gone our way despite how the regular season went”, Warriors guard Stephen Curry said. “In Northeast Ohio, nothing is given”, James said. “It’s a Game 7 and it’s in Silicon Valley, where people have deep pockets”.
“It’s frustrating, but the work we’ve put in and the opportunity we’ve given ourselves with a Game Seven to win the Finals at home, you’ve got to be excited about that”. “And let’s be frank, we were put in a pretty hard position in Game 5 without one of our best players, and we didn’t respond well”.
They won a record 73 games in the regular season, losing only nine times. He could play his best game ever, and still lose. They totally outplayed us, and Cleveland deserved to win. “It’s no fun getting second place”. “He’s a great player, so he’s going to score”.
To say there will be no pressure on the Cavaliers, though, would be incorrect.
“Nothing about our playoff run has been flawless”, Curry said, citing a 3-1 deficit to Oklahoma City in the Western Conference final.
But this is why James came back to Cleveland from Miami, to finish what he started, to give the city its first major sports title since 1964. Right now, the 2016 NBA Finals is tracking as the second most watched ever on ABC behind last year’s big numbers. That was on what was then his home floor. Kerr also doesn’t have center Andrew Bogut, whose series-ending knee injury has deprived the Warriors of one of their best rim protectors, inviting James to assault the basket without fear.
