CB Sam Shields to miss Packers’ wild-card game vs. Redskins
The only reason they’re in the playoffs is because their division, the NFC East, was absolutely pitiful. 500 this season and lost all three games.
Cousins, meanwhile, hasn’t started a playoff game during his four-year career and Washington’s only trip to the postseason since he was drafted came during his record year. In the second half, Starks scored from 4 yards out, and Lacy from 2, as the Packers ran the ball on 13 of 15 snaps.
The Redskins greatly benefited from the improved performance of Kirk Cousins. Packers’ Aaron Rodgers passed for 31 TDs, eight INTs, 3,821 yards, 60.7 completion percentage and 92.7 passer rating. Micah Hyde struggled early covering tight end Jordan Reed, but the Packers adjusted.
The Packers’ secondary has certainly been their defensive strength. Thompson is also dealing with a toe injury, but was able to play through that injury against the Dallas Cowboys last week and he is listed as probable. Morris did not reach the 100-yard mark in a game again until Week 17.
The Packers didn’t exactly end the season on a great note losing back-to-back games.
The Packers faced off last week at home against the Minnesota Vikings.
The Chiefs won 10 consecutive games to end the regular season, and against the Texans, they did what they have done for most of that streak: Their defense forced turnovers, and their offense was just good enough to capitalize.
Aaron Rodgers is going to have to step up his game, but the blame shouldn’t be put on Rodgers.
“When an opportunity presents itself, whether it’s a tough catch or an easy catch, you’ve got to make plays”, receiver James Jones said. Davante Adams seemingly dropped every pass thrown to him while James Jones has been inconsistent at best.
Luckily for the Packers’, the Redskins have been abysmal against the pass this season. He and Seattle’s Russell Wilson are the only quarterbacks in the league with at least one touchdown pass in each game.
Eddie Lacy has been hit or miss this season, but Lacy has been at his best during the winter months.
But there are still lots of decisions to be made by the team before it can pencil in Cousins as its starter for next season – and possibly beyond.
YOU LIKE THAT!? Kirk Cousins is going to need to show up this weekend if the Redskins have any hope of keeping up with the Packers.
This is going to be an entertaining and competitive game, but the Redskins are at home and on a role of late, while the Packers are all over the place.
