CBI asks Arvind Kejriwal to name its officer named in his tweet
AAP’s attack is being viewed as a diversionary tactic to put the spotlight on Jaitley.
Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, KC Tyagi of the Janata Dal-United and leaders of Left parties came out in support of the Aam Aadmi Party government. This is the DDCA file under which Arun Jaitley is getting trapped. CBI also scrutinized files of DDCA. The CBI has already clarified that office of Chief Minister was neither searched nor sealed.
Talking to the media outside Parliament, he said, “what he (Kejriwal) said in the morning seemed to be incorrect”. “But I do not think the (CBI) action is to check (corrupt) contracts”. Kejriwal also uploaded image of a document listing the files allegedly taken away by CBI from Delhi Secretariat during its day-long raid on Tuesday.
“The Delhi CM broke the news of the raid on the micro-blogging site, tweeting, “‘CBI raids my office”. That sparked an angry condemnation from a furious BJP which demanded an apology from the chief minister for his “disgraceful” remarks.
Sisodia alleged that parliament was taken for a ride by Jaitley. He had virtually live-tweeted the CBI raid at his principal secretary Rajendra Kumar’s office in the Delhi Secretariat on Tuesday.
“This incident (alleged corruption) did not happen during the tenure of Arvind (Kejriwal)”.
On Thursday, the CBI quizzed the accused officer for over 11 hours, along with co-accused and Intelligent Communication System India Limited (ICSIL) managing director R.S. Kaushik. “The raid was done against an official who was attached to his office and that too in a matter prior to his becoming chief minister”. The CM’s office only has filed from the past 15 days. “Which file was CBI looking for in my office?”
He pointed out that Rajendra Kumar had held senior positions in the departments of education, IT and Value-Added Tax.
The government dismissed his charge with Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu saying that Parliament should be used to “strengthen” the fight against corruption and not to “obstruct” it.
The ED action invited strong criticism from Chidambaram who said “nothing was found” in the “fishing and roving” enquiry and he would like to see how far a “foolish” government would go in “harassing” him.
