CBI working to ‘finish” those who don’t fall in line: Arvind Kejriwal
Kejriwal has his band of supporters among the political class, with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar saying, “It’s very surprising and frankly unbelievable, there is a way to do things”, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee declaring, “Sealing of a Chief Minister’s office is unprecedented”.
Jaitley dismissed the allegations and said claims of a government which was creating hurdles in the fight against corruption can not be trusted. Irani said the report, cited by AAP to support its allegation, was not an investigation done by it but of the DDCA itself. He alleged the probe agency seized documents “unrelated” to the agency’s probe against Kumar. However, the CBI in turn sharply reacted saying that, “Blatant incorrect information is being spread by certain quarters since Tuesday to discredit the agency with the intent to obstruct investigations”.
The Aam Aadmi Party, to which Kejriwal belongs, resoundingly came into power in February by winning a majority of seats in the Delhi state assembly on an anti-corruption platform.
In a no holds barred attack against the Centre over CBI raids at Delhi Secretariat, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal revealed, “A CBI officer told me yesterday that nodal agency has been asked to target all opposition parties and finish those who don’t fall in line”.
As AAP’s most vocal Lok Sabha member, Bhagwant Mann raised slogans near Speaker Sumitra Mahajan’s podium, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stood up and offered him a glass of water.
The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) was not raiding Kejriwal’s office, said a senior CBI official, who declined to be identified as he was not authorised to speak to the media.
The glum faces at the press conference by AAP’s B-Team on the so called DDCA scam said it all as Arvind Kejriwal kept away and Manish Sisodia was nowhere to be seen.
We demand Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s resignation & a probe into the matter. “He should either resign or be removed to enable independent probe”, Kejriwal said.
According to CBI sources, Mr Kumar was again questioned today at its headquarters, a day after the CBI raided several places across the national capital and Uttar Pradesh.
“Kejriwal should have done a background check on Rajender and found out about his character and his position in society earlier”, Hazare said.
