CBS Announces ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff ‘Young Sheldon’
‘The Big Bang Theory’ will be getting a spin-off, as network CBS has confirmed plans for an all-new series, which will focus on Sheldon Cooper’s school years.
Armitage’s casting is spot-on since he has been earning rave reviews for his role as Shailene Woodley’s son in the HBO limited series Big Little Lies. And CBS CEO Leslie Moonves hinted at a conference last week that the show will likely air after Big Bang next season. Sheldon will have “a very right-wing family, not used to this 10-year old genius living in their midst”.
On Monday, CBS revealed that prequel series “Young Sheldon” will debut on the network in the 2017-18 season.
The show’s creators are Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro.
When The Big Bang Theory started Sheldon was colder than ice and his personality wasn’t “human” at all. Parsons will serve as the narrator on the show and is also an executive producer. The spin-off will also feature Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan.
According to the outlet, Jim Parsons won’t be part of the casts, instead he will just narrate his own character’s story in the upcoming series.
Young Sheldon will star Iain Armitage as a nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper, one of the main characters in the hit show.
Jon Favreau is directing the premiere. Per earlier reports from Entertainment Weekly, The Young Sheldon is poised to give more insight into the mind and backstory of the neurotic but undeniably gifted Sheldon.
