CBS Shuffles ‘NCIS:LA’ & ‘Supergirl’ Episodes After Paris Attacks
Join us back here for a recap and review of “Livewire” after it airs on Monday night. CBS said it was replacing episodes of the Monday prime-time dramas “Supergirl” and “NCIS: Los Angeles”. With ISIS taking responsibility for the attacks in Paris, an episode originally scheduled for December will air instead.
Actors Mehcad Brooks (L) and Melissa Benoist speak onstage during the “Supergirl” panel discussion at the CBS portion of the 2015 Summer TCA Tour at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on August 10, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California. Also, whenan accident transforms a volatile CatCo employee into the villainous Livewire, she targets Cat and Supergirl, on SUPERGIRL, Monday, November 16(8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
United Kingdom broadcaster ITV pulled Sunday night’s episode of Jekyll and Hyde in the wake of Friday’s terrorist attacks.
Episode 4 of “Supergirl”, titled “How Does She Do It?”, has been pushed to a different air date.
The Boston Marathon bombing and Sandy Hook school shooting led NBC to shelve a 2013 episode of Hannibal where guest star Molly Shannon brainwashed children, making them kill other kids.
Meanwhile, in 2011, Fox decided not to air episodes of the animated series “American Dad”, “The Cleveland Show”, and “Family Guy” which would all have featured the characters experiencing a hurricane.
These two shows continue a trend of networks pulling TV shows that are eerily similar to real world violence. “It was the associations that came with the subject matter that I felt would inhibit the enjoyment of the overall episode”, series creator Bryan Fuller told Variety. The Thanksgiving-themed episode was originally slated for release next week. Seeing as this material would be jarring, to say the least, after the attacks in Paris and Beirut, the episodes have been swapped for more innocuous ones.
Fox planned a huge three show crossover event for May sweeps in 2011, where a hurricane hits Stoolbend, Quahog and Langley Falls.
