Celine Dion cancels shows following husband’s death
Angélil died after a long battle with cancer that began in 1999 with a throat cancer diagnosis.
Angelil had been sick with throat cancer for more than two years, and Dion said in an August USA Today interview that she was prepared for his death.
Following the tragic news, Celine immediately cancelled the performances, which were due to take place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Saturday and Sunday.
Angelil is survived by Dion, their three children René-Charles, 14, 5-year old twins Nelson and Eddy, and his adult children from a previous relationship: Anne-Marie, Patrick and Jean-Pierre.
His death was also announced by his wife, Celine Dion, who posted on her website saying, “It’s with profound sadness that we are announcing that René Angélil, 73, died this morning at his Las Vegas home after a courageous battle with cancer”.
The family has requested privacy, but promised to released more details at a later date.
She has been a regular performer at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas since 2003.
Charice Pempengco sent her sympathies to Celine Dion and her family over the death of René Angélil. Rene was twice divorced at that time. He even went so far as to mortgage his house to produce her first record in 1981 according to a popular biography. The couple announced their romance in 1993.
“He can’t use his mouth”. Dion had withdrawn herself away from the limelight several times to care for him. I do this myself.
We can’t imagine what Celine Dion is going through right now. Or you look at your husband that’s sick and you say, ‘I got you.
