Celine Dion’s Brother Daniel Dies From Cancer
Earlier in the week Celine Dion lost her husband to throat cancer. Angelil’s final wishes were to have his funeral at the same church where he Wednesday Dion.
Celine Dion’s husband René Angelil will have his funeral at Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal, where he and Dion were married 21 years ago. There will be a wake held on Thursday allowing the public to pay their respects.
A celebration of Angelil’s life will also be held on February 3 in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace Colosseum from 7 p.m.to 9 p.m., New York Times has learned.
When Dion was 18, Angelil instructed the French-speaking singer to remake her image by changing her hair and capping her teeth, and enroll in English school so she could record songs for the USA market.
“Battling cancer for a few years, it’s in the uttermost discretion and surrounded by his family that Daniel Dion, 59, died today, January 16”, read a statement released by Celine’s family.
Their sister Claudette told the Journal of Montreal how hard their family has been hit by the double tragedy.
The Dion clan was an intensely musical family, with the children touring and giving performances during Celine’s youth. But tragically, the Dion family might not be out of the woods yet. This appears to have been a big part of the foundation that their relationship is built on. Angelil, who discovered the Canadian pop diva and managed her career, died Thursday at age 73 after a struggle with cancer. “She’s grieving the loss of her husband”, the source said.
After a long battle with cancer, Daniel leaves to mourn his mother Therese Tanguay-Dion; his daughters Valerie (Patrick Goyette) and Marie-Michelle; his grandchildren Matis and Laurianne (Valerie)…
“But you do have the choice on how you’re going to go through this”.
