LAS VEGAS (AP) – Rene Angelil, Celine Dion’s husband and manager, who molded her from a French-speaking Canadian ingénue into one of the world’s most successful singers, died Thursday after a long battle with throat cancer, officials and family members said.
He is survived by Dion and their three children, Rene-Charles (14) and 5 year old twins Eddy and Nelson.
Dion also said that she felt it was her duty to be strong and continue to work, as Angelil did not want her to put her career on hold.

In 2000, Rene Angelil’s cancer went into remission, and he was given the all-clear from doctors, and Celine Dion’s life returned to normal. But as she told ABC’s Deborah Roberts the disease would soon return.
A source told People magazine: “We knew what he was up against, but he had good days and bad days”.
