Celine Dion’s husband Rene Angelil dies after “long battle against cancer”
She even cancelled future performances in Las Vegas and her upcoming Asian tour that was scheduled to begin in the fall.
Angelil was initially diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998.
“We have determined Mr. Angélil’s death was due to natural causes”, John Fudenberg, Clark County coroner, said.
Last year, Celine Dion said she was preparing for her husband’s death.

Dion released a statement on her website announcing the cancellation.
A spokesman for the singer, Marc Olivier, said more information would be given in the coming days, but for now the family wished to be left to mourn in private.
Angelil was at the center of a high-profile extortion case in 2000.
She has been a regular performer at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas since 2003. After the marriage, eventually, Angelil was was accepted by the singer’s family. Angelil acknowledged no wrongdoing and was never charged.
The businessman set out to make Dion the biggest singer in the world.
Angélil is survived by his wife, and their sons – Rene-Charles, 14, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 5.
In late 2013, Angelil got a process to get rid of a tumour from his throat.
“He’s working really hard on his health”, Dion said at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
In a soft voice, she recalled: “I’ll say, ‘You’re scared?”
