Celtics Gauging Nets’ Interest In Trading Thaddeus Young
They sit in the third seed in the Eastern Conference and they have a boatload of assets in the form of cheap contracts for very good players, talents on rookie scale contracts and draft picks as well as expiring veteran contracts to get a deal done.
As seems to be common knowledge for anyone who has any knowledge whatsoever about the Celtics, Boston has accumulated a large stockpile of draft picks via trade from many other teams. If the price is right, Danny Ainge has to make this move.
The Nets, who hired Sean Marks as their GM on Thursday just five hours before the NBA’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline, have yet to make any moves.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are not spared from rumors regarding a possible Kevin Love trade as the trade deadline approaches. And according to Yahoo!
Will Love be traded in the next couple of days? If a superstar, who is considered a great fit for the team, becomes available then the front office must try to work on a deal. The follow-up question to the last one is whether coach Brad Stevens has a way to fix this. On the other hand, the Pelicans might choose to trade Anderson to one of several other suitors, which would make the whole ordeal moot. Al Horford does seem to fit the bill as he has the range to score from anywhere on offense but he’s also an unrestricted free agent this summer and could sign anywhere if traded for.
You have to give something to get something, but these rumors often fizzle out when Ainge determines teams are asking for too much.
Jeff Teague, PG, Atlanta Hawks – Through Jan. 31: 14.5 ppg, 5.5 apg, 2.5 rpg – The Celtics have inquired about the Hawks point guard, according to CSNNE’s Chris Mannix, and Atlanta might be looking to shop him in order to give more playing time to their young up and coming guard, Dennis Schroeder.
One big man, who reportedly is on the trade block but hasn’t been connected with Boston at this point is Houston’s Dwight Howard. Bosh is hopeful to play again this season, but the uncertainty surrounding the situation could prompt the Heat to look for ways to bolster the roster around Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic, both over 30 years old.
With the trade frenzy in full effect at the deadline, basketball fans could expect deals like this to happen. And don’t be surprised, if Danny Ainge decides to stand pat.
