Celtics Need To Trade For Westbrook
If he waited a year and wanted to stay in Oklahoma City, the Thunder could offer a five-year maximum contract. But with the departure of superstar Kevin Durant in free agency, the Thunder’s future now looks a lot less promising.
Boston Celtics fans, if there was ever a time to get Russell Westbrook, it would be now.
The Thunder can add up to $8 million to Westbrook’s $17.769 million contract for the 16-17 season while adding more years to his deal.
A few Thunder teammates were not too pleased about how Durant & Draymond were buddy-buddy while he was still kicking them in the balls.
Told emphatically by league source there’s no chance Russell Westbrook will do a renegotiation/extension of his contract (one yr remaining).
In the Eastern Conference next year, a team built around Westbrook and new signing Al Horford could make a run. Also, since the former is younger than the latter by three years, the Bulls can make the most out of Westbrook by getting him to sign a long-term deal. “Russ is one of the top players in the game, but things have to fit”. First, Westbrook also was absent for much of that season.
Not to mention the fact that Westbrook played college basketball with the UCLA Bruins, so in a way, it’d be an opportunity to represent a community close to him now that he won’t have Durant’s help. The allure of the big market provided by L.A. could also attract Westbrook to stay.
However, the potential negatives of the Lakers doing so seem to outweigh the positives. However, several trade rumors insisted that the Lakers should trade the combination of D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Brandon Ingram.
For one, Westbrook can certainly match Rondo’s veteran status and experience. It would be a win-win for both sides, or at the very least put them each in a better situation then they are in now. “They’re good guys. But Kevin feels like no one can control Russell when he’s on the court – not even Russell”.
Russell Westbrook is set to become a free agent on July 1, 2017. They have already tried signing him to an extension, and he has refused.
On this light, ESPN Insider debated on the best possible trade that the Thunder could get.

Some have suggested in the wake of Durant’s move that, with Russell Westbrook a free agent next year, Oklahoma City should tear down.
Yes, the same Russell Westbrook whose style of play allegedly ran Durant out of Oklahoma City and wears all those insane outfits prior to each game.
