Cent paying $2 million in punitive damages
The New York Daily News reports that 50 said in his session at the Manhattan Supreme Court that his image is manufactured.
Last week, 50 Cent shocked the hip hop world when he filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, later explaining that this was move was made out of a desire to “reorganize his financial affairs” than an actual lack of funds.
50 Cent has been ordered to pay an additional $2 million in punitive damages to Lastonia Leviston, the woman whose sex tape he leaked online, a New York jury decided on Friday.
The star, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, revealed that he doesn’t own numerous cars in his arsenal such as a Bentley and Ferrari, saying, “Those cars were rented”.
“It’s a borrowed piece of jewelry from the jeweler”, he told Leviston’s lawyer, Philip Freidin, when asked about a photo of a 65-karat ring he posted on his Instagram account. 50 Cent may put on the lavish lifestyle of a rap tycoon, but he says the bling-bling is all returned to the store.
The jury’s decision comes just two weeks after the rapper was ordered to pay Leviston $5 million for emotional distress and invasion of privacy.
Leviston sued the “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” rapper after a 13-minute video appeared online showing a wig-wearing 50 Cent crudely narrating and taunting his rival Rick Ross, who was not in the video but has a daughter with Leviston.
During that court date, Jackson’s lawyer put his client’s worth at $4.4 million, prior to the $5 million award levied against him.
Few years back, the rapper sold Vitamin Water to Coca-Cola and it is believed that he earned close to an estimated $100 million for the deal.
