CG officials visit hospital to enquire Soni Sori’s health
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday visited Aam Aadmi Party leader Soni Sori at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, where she was admitted after she was attacked with an acid-like substance in Dantewada district, Chhattisgarh, on Saturday. Hope she recovers fast.
The men, who were on a motorcycle, had thrown an acid-like chemical on her face, following which she was flown to Delhi for treatment.
The tribal rights activist is “stable and there is no threat to her life”, noted a health bulletin released by the hospital. One of them sprayed the liquid on her face.
“According to doctors the alleged liquid seemed to be grease diluted with chemical”.
Though the substance did not disfigure her face Sori said she suffered from a burning sensation, the official said.
Rao also spoke to IP Singh, senior doctor in charge at the burns intensive care unit, who said Sori was probably attacked with an acid-alkali mix. Even the conviction rate is very poor in such cases. The attack followed months of harassment of the human rights defender by the government and police authorities of Chhattisgarh state.
“I appeal to @BJPRajnathSingh ji max punishment should be given to Soni Sori perpetrators and police protection b provided to her and others”, she tweeted.
“Fortunately she has not lost sight”, said Dilip Pandey, AAP’s Delhi unit head.
