Channel 5 To Adapt Spike’s ‘Lip Sync Battle’ For UK
Committing to her craft! Broad City star Abbi Jacobson appears on the next episode of Lip Sync Battle, and she put on one impressive performance in her showdown with collaborator Ilana Glazer. Whizz Kid Entertainment will make the eight-part series. The original show, hosted by NCIS Los Angeles actor LL Cool J will be familiar to some UK viewers, with the showing airing on Spike. Steve Regan, VP, commissioning and production, MTV UK, will executive produce on behalf of Channel 5, reporting to Frow, with Whizz Kid’s chief executive, Malcolm Gerrie, and Katherine Allen acting as co-executive producers.
It has featured a long list of impressive celebrities, including Anne Hathaway, Anna Kendrick and Stephen Merchant, who all compete against each other as they lip-sync their song of choice. The show has already been recommissioned for 20 more episodes for Spike in the U.S.in 2016. “We’re excited that our developing relationship with Spike in the U.S. has made a United Kingdom version of the show possible and look forward to bringing entertainment back to the heart of Channel 5 primetime”.
