Charice tells Celine Dion to ‘stay strong’ after husband’s death
Celine announced the sad news in a statement on her website, explaining that Rene died in their Las Vegas home.
Celine Dion’s husband, Rene Angelil lost his long battle with cancer this week.
Dion has asked for privacy at this time and has promised to provide details surrounding her husband’s death in the future.
In 1994, when she was 19 and he was 45, the couple married in an extravagant wedding ceremony that was televised live in Canada, and splashed all over glossy magazines.
Together, Angélil and Celine have three children, Rene-Charles, and twins, Nelson and Eddy. Angelil also had three children from his previous two marriages.
Following Angelil’s 1999 throat cancer diagnosis, the singer chose to take a break from the limelight to care for him. She also mentioned that she will not be resuming work until February 23.

Her husband was born in Montreal in 1942. She was 12-years-old at the time, but both Angelil and Kaye recognized her vast talent. “He wants me strong”.
“René really gave me a gift”, she says.
“When it hits me, it’s going to hit me”, she told the newspaper in August 2015. Dion and Charice had so much in common, including their association with David Foster, the man who discovered them both.
By the late 1990s and 2000s, her soaring voice had become dominant on the radio.
While Dion and Angelil’s entourage insisted he was doing well, Angelil stepped back from the day-to-day management of his megastar wife’s career in June 2014.
Angelil was diagnosed with throat cancer in 1998.
The businessman set out to make Dion the biggest singer in the world.
