Charlie Austin should choose Newcastle over West Ham, says Lee Bowyer
Hoops head coach Chris Ramsey recently told the BBC the 26-year-old and fellow QPR player Leroy Fer were likely to leave the club in the summer transfer window despite his desire to hang on to them.
Both have been heavily linked with moves away from Loftus Road following QPR’s relegation to the Championship.
Ramsey was also quick to point out that although the club have received bids for Austin, until the asking price is met the striker will continue to play for the London side.
However the 53-year-old also said he will attempt to hold onto the striker and midfielder as long as possible, with five Championship matches and a League Cup tie to come before the transfer window slams shut on September 1.
Newcastle manager Steve McClaren has used his position on the club’s board to address speculation linking him with a move for QPR hitman Charlie Austin.
“Whoever’s in the building and can help needs to be on hand”.
While Sakho enjoyed an unbelievable run – scoring in his first six Premier League games – he spent plenty of time on the sidelines last year, which will certainly be a worry to his new boss, while the latter pair have failed to be prolific in front of goal during their spells at the Boleyn Ground. “What is happening is that the players are training very hard to get fit for the beginning of the season and if they’re fit they’ll feature”.
“I’ve probably got three-quarters of the squad I want but we do need some more players”, he said.
