Charlie Rose Lands First TV Interview With Sean Penn Following ‘El Chapo
The transcripts published on Wednesday by the newspaper Milenio showed Guzman’s main concern was getting face-to-face get-togethers with Del Castillo, and he did not even really know who Sean Penn was.
The Mexican actress has been the subject of speculation since joining the Oscar victor for a meeting with drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman for an interview that ran in Rolling Stone last week.
During the operation, code named Tlatelolco as it was supposed to occur on the October 2 anniversary of a famous 1968 Mexico City massacre, one of the marines had Guzman in his sites, but chose not to pull the trigger as Chapo had a young girl in his arms, Loret de Mola said.
Although the messages are incredibly flirtatious, Fox News reported that some experts say believe that introduction may have introduced danger into the lives of del Castillo and her family, which may have lead to his re-capture.
The messages provide a new window into the mysterious relationship between the then-fugitive and Del Castillo, who brokered the sitdown between Guzman and Penn, which authorities are investigating.
CNN legal analyst Joey Jackson said at first glance, it does not appear Penn and del Castillo broke any laws.
Both shirts are now on back order until the end of January, meaning if you want to dress like the drug kingpin, it will be a while until you get your hands on it.
“You’re the best in the world”. We will be great friends… When pressed for any more details on the actor’s career, the confidant pegged Penn as the dude from “21 Grams”.
The murder charges in Brooklyn and in El Paso are worse crimes than the alleged drug-trafficking and money-laundering in Miami, but the Mexican government has ruled out extraditing Guzman for any capital crime, a condition that would likely nullify that advantage in those venues.
But his vanity in wanting a movie made of his notorious life is credited with helping authorities track his locale. That was in part why Penn’s relationship to the Mexican actor was of interest to law enforcement, official said.
And there was another caveat: in one message, the account identified as Del Castillo’s mentions a USA lawyer who she said had offered to handle Guzman’s affairs – presumably related to the movie project.
“What’s that actor’s name?” the account identified as Guzman’s writes in one message.
Guzman isn’t exactly a trailblazer.
Olvidado (Guzman’s employee): Sean Penn. More than a year after the massacre of 43 students in the town of Iguala, the government’s investigation has made little headway.
Olvidado: “I’m checking to make sure I give you the exact information”.
Colleague: “21 grams came out in 2003”.
The texts – written in Spanish, littered with typos and relying on nicknames for all involved – apparently included El Chapo, Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, who mediated the meeting, and two of the drug lord’s lawyers.
