Charlie Rose planning to interview Sean Penn about ‘El Chapo’ Guzman meeting

Mexico has agreed to extradite El Chapo to the United States, but the process could take years as the cartel leader’s lawyers attempt to block the proceedings in court.

For global audiences, especially in the United States, Guzman’s interview with Penn turned the story of his capture into yet another celebrity scandal.

Guzman comes across in the messages as increasingly enamoured with the actress, while she tries to talk about work, including an unnamed project involving people in Hollywood.

On Monday, Penn told the Associated Press he has “nothin’ to hide.”

The conversation carried on after the meeting with Penn at a time when authorities were in hot pursuit of Guzman, who narrowly escaped a raid authorities say was made possible by leads gathered from his contacts with del Castillo. Many expressed admiration and a longing for the next meeting, more than concern about the purported movie project. Images released to a Mexican newspaper showed that Penn and Del Castillo were under surveillance. “I will take care of you more than my own eyes”.

In the interview, Guzman boasted, “I supply more heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and marijuana than anybody else in the world”.

“You’re so attractive, my friend, in every aspect”, he gushed. I didn’t even know he was still around.

“I want you with all my heart”, he wrote. “You’re making me blush”, del Castillo responds.

“It poses a lot of very interesting questions, both for him and for others involved in this … so-called interview”.

The actress finally broke her silence on the matter Wednesday night when she tweeted a thank you to her allies for their support.

“Not surprisingly, many have chosen to make up items they think will make good stories and that aren’t truthful”.

She was the one person who was able to broker the meeting between Penn and the drug lord. This past Friday, January 8, Mexican marines swooped down on the safe house where El Chapo was hiding, and killed five suspects in the shoot-out.

The co-host of “CBS This Morning” added that he hopes the interview will take place “sooner than later” and that he will be prepared for it once he gets the approval from Penn and his lawyers.

Mexican federal officials have confirmed that the drug lord appears to have been infatuated with the actress.

The GoPro cameras mounted on the helmets of marines show the soldiers storm the house, launching grenades and firing heavily when moving from room to room in search of Guzman. It was unclear, however, if the medication belonged to Guzman or one of his associates.

“There is no criminal liability for seeing something illegal and not reporting it”.

According to documents seen by Reuters, IMPI rejected two applications to trademark the names “Joaquin El Chapo Guzman” and “El Chapo Guzman” in 2011, filed by Alejandrina Gisselle Guzman, who is believed to be his daughter.

Every phone call or text, every movement in the region was analyzed, the ex-official said, including Guzman’s 2 Oct meeting with Penn and del Castillo.

“It was obviously expensive, but they knew they had to flush Chapo Guzman out”, said Michael Vigil, former head of global operations at the Drug Enforcement Administration, who also was briefed on the operation.
