Charlie Sheen’s Papi Martin Speaks Out On His Son’s HIV Annoncement
The 56-year-old former L.A. Laker took to Twitter soon after the news broke about Sheen’s condition on Tuesday to show him support.
If he does meet with Sheen, Louganis says the first thing he would do is give him a hug and say that ‘I’m here’. “My philanthropic days are ahead of me”.
Following Charlie Sheen’s announcement yesterday that he’s HIV-positive, his father Martin Sheen is speaking out to laud his son’s courage for going public. “And he kind of sealed it when he called (“Today” show host) Matt Lauer last week and asked if he could go on”.
Furthermore, the contract declares that disputes between Sheen and sexual partners are to be settled by an arbitrator, not a judge or jury.
Sheen’s manager Mark Burg told people.com: “Bree Olson is all over Howard Stern but the truth is she wasn’t in Sheen’s life when he was HIV-positive and so there was no reason to tell her anything”.
“Just the fact that there were people who could try to blackmail him about his status speaks to the fact that we haven’t come as far as we need to in eliminating the stigma, and that the fear is still with us in a very palpable way”, said Allison Nichol, the co-director of the Center for HIV Law and Policy in NY. “I was his girlfriend”. “If he wants to talk, I’m here for him”.
She said she learned of Sheen’s condition only in the past few days, prompting her to be tested.
During his interview, Charlie insisted he will use his celebrity status to raise HIV awareness, saying, “If there was one guy on this earth to contract this that’s going to deliver a cure, it’s me…”
Clarifying rumors about the Hollywood actor having AIDS, Dr. Huizenga had this to say: “Charlie does not have Aids – that’s when the virus suppresses the immune system”. Sheen settled the matter out of court and paid the partners in return for the promise of confidentiality. “I think I released myself from this prison today”. “We weren’t initially obviously unprotected but we became unprotected when we chose to be exclusive and we had a conversation about that”, she said.
“We don’t always get to pick the ideal messenger”.
