Charlton Athletic interested in loan move for Arsenal star
The 20-year-old, who has been at the Emirates since 2011, joined West Bromwich Albion last summer on a temporary deal until the end of the campaign.
Despite his woes on loan Gnabry has not yet returned to Arsenal, with Standard Sport reporting earlier this month that the two clubs were locked in dispute over how much of the loan fee West Brom should pay if he departs early. Wenger can call on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joel Campbell, Aaron Ramsey and Theo Walcott to play in a right-hand berth.
Gnabry, a regular Germany U21 global, was sent out to another team in the Premier League in order to develop the player and give him experience of playing in the top division, but it looks like Wenger will have to find him another club willing to give him more game time- and hopes he can have the same impact that Francis Coquelin did during his loan at Charlton.
France right-back Mathieu Debuchy is also expected to leave on loan before Monday, but Wenger said no deal has been completed yet.
The Championship strugglers are keen to secure Gnabry’s services and Arsenal are prepared to offload him under the condition that he plays regularly.
Speaking after Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, Wenger confirmed that Gnabry would be recalled.
