Chase Elliott wins Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona
“I am not going to dump someone”, he said. That’s where things get frustrating, drivers not understanding the rule, or worse, potentially operating on a different understand of them in the final laps.
It sure beats where he was this time last season.
Logano fell back, but regrouped with a charge on the outside lane.
The right-rear fender was caved in on Elliott’s auto; the left-front bumper on Logano’s was collapsed. “He didn’t do anything to me the whole race”.
“I don’t necessarily feel any redemption”, Busch said. I was coming up and we hit. “Want to get out there and make it happen”.
Busch withstood multiple surgeries, went through a grueling rehabilitation program and missed only 11 races. He spent 100 miles getting back into contention.
He won the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway to claim the title, and knocked Kevin Harvick from his perch as champion.
“Chase did a great job”, Logano said.
Once again, the season-opener at Daytona was decided by a pair of drivers locking bumpers in the closing laps in order to decide the top spot amongst themselves.

He still texts with Todd McCall, the doctor who repaired his right leg.
“That was a heck of a battle”, Elliott said.
2014 NASCAR Xfinity Series Champion Chase Elliott scored his first-career Daytona victory after taking the checkered flag in Saturday’s Powershares QQQ 300 at Daytona International Speedway.
Elliott took the lead from Logano on a final restart with 13 laps to go in the Powershares QQQ 300 then blocked his fellow Sprint Cup regular on the last lap.
So the pole-winner for Sunday’s Daytona 500 (on FOX at 1 p.m. ET) beat the victor of the 2015 Daytona 500 by a small fraction of a second, and Logano was runner-up for the third time during Speedweeks, having run second to Denny Hamlin in last Saturday’s Sprint Unlimited and second to JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr.in Thursday’s first Can-Am Duel.
