Speaking to Moose FM last week, ahead of the film’s premiere at Yellowknife’s Capitol Theatre, Nakehk’o said she had been impressed by the production team’s dedication to accurate portrayal of Indigenous peoples of the time.
In an upset, “The Revenant” won best film, drama, as well as best director for Inarritu and best actor for Leonardo DiCaprio.

Best Foreign-Language Film: “Son of Saul” (Hungary). Not only that but Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight was expending to more cinema screens (although that didn’t work out well). That award is – no offense – worthless. In that movie, he’s a good guy, helping Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) convey the five enslaved wives of Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) to the Vuvalinis, a tribe of matriarchs.

Best actress in a TV drama went to Taraji P. Henson for “Empire”.
Best Supporting Actor: Sylvester Stallone for “Creed”.
