Check Out The First Pictures Of Captain Marvel!
The EW cover features Larson in full Captain Marvel costume – her starred symbol will be familiar to fans of the MCU, it was flashed up in the Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene on Fury’s pager device.
Following the first set of leaked photos that surfaced online earlier this year, Entertainment Weekly has made a decision to come through today and share the first official look at the upcoming Captain Marvel movie.
And Brie’s character is also the first female superhero in the MCU to have a standalone film – the 21st entry in the Marvel franchise. She has a little problem with aggression and following orders, like so many cocky Air Force pilots we’ve seen on the big screen. Larsen told EW that Carol “can’t help but be herself”.
“But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past”.
First up: here’s our first good look at Captain Marvel’s Skrulls, led by the villainous Talos (Ben Mendelsohn). This means no Iron Man and no Avengers.
“Captain Marvel marks Samuel L. Jackson’s ninth appearance as Nick Fury, but this Nick is a lowly S.H.I.E.L.D. desk jockey (who hasn’t yet met any superheroes)”. Getting a glimpse at the film’s aesthetic is one thing, but getting an understanding of the film’s plotline from the pictures is an entirely different level of fandom – one we’re here to encourage.

The movie is expected to reveal how Fury and Captain Marvel meet. Now geeking out over movies, too.
Unlike all of Marvel’s other solo superhero movies, Captain Marvel isn’t exactly about a person learning how to become heroic, but rather about its titular hero discovering just who and what she really is. The movie is scheduled to release in March 2019, a couple of months before the release of Avengers 4, where Captain Marvel is said to have a major role in fighting Thanos.
Behind the camera, the film will be co-directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, both making their blockbuster debuts after a string of TV and indie film work. For example, when the film starts, Carol already has her powers, having left her life on Earth to join an elite Kree military team, the Starforce, which is led by Jude Law’s character. “But at her core, she has so much heart and so much humanity – and all of its messiness”.
