Check Out The Teaser Trailer For Disney’s The BFG
It’s always nerve-wracking when one of your favorite childhood books is adapted into a blockbuster movie, but based on this trailer for The BFG, we can rest easy. But Sophie’s presence in Giant Country attracts the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. However, BFG is not like the others and only eats a vegetable called a snozzcumber.
Disney’s The BFG movie tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
Watch the brief trailer – which only shows Sophie being pulled from her bed by the BFG – below. As hard as it might be to believe, this is technically Spielberg’s first Disney film – at least directly for Walt Disney Studios – and his first adaptation of a Dahl story.
Back in 1989, a cartoon version of the film was released in the United Kingdom on Christmas Day.
That’s a pretty great teaser, and one that wisely recalls the original without being full of spoilers – especially the face of this Big Friendly Giant. Of course, Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also made that list.
The BFG will see Spielberg reunite with actor Mark Rylance – who has just starred alongside Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies – and he takes on the title role. I hadn’t read the book, but the script was wonderful. And he brought a collaborator with him, casting Mark Rylance as the BFG.
“It was motion-capture so my performance lives only in a computer”, he said. He’s 24-feet tall and endearingly dim-witted.
The BFG will arrive in the States on July 1st, 2016 and in United Kingdom cinemas on July 22nd, 2016.
