Check out these ‘Star Wars’ fan films to feel the Force

They are waiting in line to get the best seats for a December 17 special screening of The Force Awakens. Abrams, the highly-anticipated movie stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Soon enough, however, one of those roles will be recast, as Disney embarks upon its ambitious project to expand the Star Wars universe with a series of anthology films, and in a recent interview Ford spoke about the upcoming movie that will put Han Solo squarely in a spotlight of his own.

“We just want to show our appreciation and the love that we have for Star Wars”, he said, sitting near fellow fans outside the theatre after taking a nap under blankets on the pavement.

The campers will be watching from a distance with envy tonight, when crowds of Hollywood insiders will be on hand as the long-awaited film premieres at the Chinese Theatre, as well as the Dolby and El Capitan theaters.

The latest instalment of the sci-fi epic doubled Odeon’s previous record of pre-booked tickets set by Spectre, prompting the cinema group to launch its biggest ever logistical operation to cope with the huge crowds. The film premieres next week on December 18, 2015.

“I expect a couple of arrests”, Ward said.

On Friday, dozens of workers were busily erecting a mammoth opaque tent lining four blocks of Hollywood Boulevard.

While most stars opted for chic red carpet attire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt showed up dressed as Jedi master Yoda and comedian Rainn Wilson dressed as a Jedi.

Those without advance tickets for opening night in the United States may be out of luck, with many theaters already sold out.

Abrams and “Star Wars” creator George Lucas posed together for photos, and both men took time to chat with fans – some dressed as X-Wing pilots and others as new “Force Awakens” characters – before heading into the premiere.
