Checkers responds to viral video of employee throwing burger bun on floor
A video of a Checkers employee wiping a bun across the kitchen floor before using it to make a sandwich has gone viral, drawing ire and disgust from fast food diners.
In a shocking twist, the employee purposely wiped the floor with the bread before proceeding to assembling the burger while people on the background are heard laughing, Fox Tampa Bay reported.
Checkers is responding to an Internet video that has racked up more than a half-million streams on YouTube.
KTLA reports that the incident actually occurred several weeks ago, but the video was only recently shared online.
Lori Malcolm, the senior vice president of human resources at Checkers, said she was “appalled and disappointed” by the video. Malcolm said the company is conducting its own investigation and is “exploring all of our options” which can not be anything but bad news for the workers who did this.
On Wednesday, a day after the video was posted to YouTube, the fast-food chain released a video statement addressing the disturbing video.
“The product was never served to a guest”.
Checkers said the employees involved in the video no longer work at the Baltimore-area location.
