Chef Zakarian backs out of restaurant at DC Trump hotel
Celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian said he will not open his restaurant at the Trump worldwide Hotel in Washington DC, adding to a list of names to cut corporate ties with real estate mogul Donald Trump after his statements on Mexican immigrants. Ex- Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Kentucky Sen.
Both Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, whose parents were Cuban immigrants, and Trump will speak this weekend at FreedomFest in Las Vegas.
Let’s face it, Trump’s presidential candidacy is no longer a political story.
There are around 11 million illegal immigrants, known as undocumented migrants, in the United States and they pose a policy quandary for Democrats and Republicans. In fact, he doubled down, telling Sean Hannity that – while he loves “the Mexican people” and has “respect” for the country – Mexico is “sending us their criminals”.
The comments are a bit humorous, given his disparaging remarks about immigrants just days earlier.
The Republican Party has always been cognizant of shifting demographics which translate to a doomed political future if the party can not begin appealing to minority groups.
“We have gone out of our way to make sure that everybody in that building is legal”, he said. “There is no tolerance for it”.
“He seemed to really get into the weeds talking about issues”, Dennis Hogan, the Hillsborough County Attorney, said after listening to Bush. “He called me, ten minutes, said I hit a “nerve”, doing well, end!”
The poll shows Trump’s approval rating is particularly high among Tea Party members, as two-thirds of those who said they were backing him identified with the ideology. To further distance the GOP from Trump, they made certain we all knew the conversation happened. “This is a freaky kind of idea that somehow you can have an affection for people in a different country and not think the rule of law should apply”. But thousands of them are not good people and they are committing crimes like sexual assault, rape and murder after they get here.
According to his campaign, a Saturday rally in Arizona at which Trump will discuss illegal immigration has attracted so much interest that it had to be moved from a Biltmore hotel to a ballroom at the Phoenix Convention Center to accommodate the “thousands” of attendees expected. “And I’ll tell you something, if I get the nomination, I’ll win the Latino vote”, said Donald.
“I would hope so”, Boehner said, when asked if the House will act on any immigration legislation this year.
Shaw told Loesch that Trump’s criticism of illegal immigration is “resonating in the black community because we see all the carnage that’s happened and all the memorials”.
And Graham has a beef about that, making sure to tell the network televising the first event just how he felt during an interview on Fox News on Friday, calling the top 10 format “a dumb way” to pare down the crowded GOP field.
