Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho presented with four Guinness World Records
The England centre-back has joined the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Frank Lampard in the updated Guinness Book of World Records for a brace he scored for United against Burnley.
Despite strolling to the Premier League title last season, Chelsea were expected to spend big in the transfer window to fend off the two Manchester clubs and retain their crown.
Lampard surpassed Andy Cole’s total of 38 when he memorably notched against his beloved Blues while wearing the colours of Manchester City at the Eithad Stadium past year.
Rafael Benitez is third on 231 from his time at Liverpool, where he developed a bitter rivalry with Mourinho before a brief stint as “interim” Chelsea manager in 2012/13.
Ronaldo has the most La Liga hat-tricks(27), Lampard has scored against the most Premier League opponents(39), while Mourinho has the most points in a Premier League season(95), most Champions Leagues won at different clubs (2), youngest manager to reach 100 Champions League games (at 49 years 12 days) and most home games unbeaten in the Premier League (77).
“The fact they gave me the awards in a way that I can put them up in my office is nice”, he said.
Other sporting records included in rugby union, where New Zealand fly-half Dan Carter is the record global points scorer, with over 1500.
English cricketers Joe Root and Jimmy Anderson also picked up a Guinness World Record.
Their 198-run 10th wicket partnership against India last summer broke the previous record held by Australia’s Ashton Agar and the late Phil Hughes, and they were presented with the award following their Ashes triumph at The Oval.
These records continue to showcase just how talented each man is and how important their contributions to the soccer world have been over their careers. He also has most global conversions (260) and penalties (258). He treats you like one of his own, in terms of value, respect and how much he asks of his players.
Mourinho made the decision to bring off Terry for the first time while in charge of the Blues at half-time against City before the skipper was sent off for his challenge on West Brom striker Salomon Rondon one week later. It’s a player rarely talked about in the same breath as his fellow high achievers.
