Chelsea handed home clash with Manchester City in FA Cup draw
Oscar’s hat-trick and Eden Hazard’s first goal this season earned Chelsea a 5-1 win at Milton Keynes Dons on Sunday that set up an FA Cup showdown with Manchester City.
Chelsea have lifted the FA Cup five times since the turn of the century and are the defending Premier League champions while City won the FA Cup in 2011 and the Premier League in 2012 and 2014.
The Gunners, on the other hand, narrowly beat Hull’s Championship promotion rivals Burnley 2-1 thanks to goals from Calum Chambers and Alexis Sanchez, either side of an equaliser from Welsh global Sam Vokes.
FA Cup holders Arsenal and Hull City will go head to head on the Emirates Stadium for a place in the sixth round of the FA Cup.
The win means that Chelsea remain in contention to repeat the FA Cup success they enjoyed when Hiddink was last in interim charge in 2009, but they were handed a testing draw at home to City.
Chelsea recorded a convincing 5-1 win away to Championship side MK Dons to make it through to the next round.
Chelsea will host Manchester City in the last 16 of the FA Cup, while Manchester United travel to third-tier Shrewsbury, the lowest-placed team left in the competition.
In other all-Premier League clashes, Tottenham Hotspur will host Crystal Palace and AFC Bournemouth take on Everton. Spurs face Crystal Palace, who they have beaten twice in the Premier League this season.
Everton comfortably won 3-0 at League Two Carlisle United in the early kickoff, with the fourth-tier club playing at home for only the second time after floods damaged their Brunton Park home in December.
The fifth-round ties will be played across the weekend of Friday, February 19, to Monday, February 22.
Mid-table Leeds haven’t been doing quite so well in the league and an away tie is far from ideal, but against a Watford side whose form has largely dropped off there could be scope for an upset at Vicarage Road. Should they overcome West Ham United, Liverpool will visit Blackburn Rovers.
